In the last 12 months I have gone from Vegas to San Diego back to Vegas. Vegas to Flagstaff back to Vegas. Vegas to San Diego to LA to SLO to San Fran to Seattle. Washington DC to Winston. Winston to DC. Winston to Blacksburg and back. Winston to Charlotte. Charlotte to Shelby back to Winston. Winston to Chattanooga and back.
All via my little two door, four wheeled beast.
We've spent a lot of time with each other this past year.
I've learned the importance of getting your car serviced, oil changed, and tires rotated. I've also learned that time alone is a good thing. I like to call myself an outgoing introvert. Adventuring via a car is the perfect method for me. Because you can't comfortably be with more than a couple people at a time, but you get a lot of time with one or two other people.
This last one I went on I learned of the intentionality of road trip talks. I was told that if you are together for that amount of time, you might as well talk about somethings you want answered. Because neither of you are going anywhere. Unless you get left on the side of the road in the middle of no where USA without cell service. (and who wants that? ...not me)
And It's time I get to spend looking at the country. Time spent admiring the trees, dirt, or miles of nothing. Time spent singing to songs, or listening to podcasts.
Road trips are good for the adventurous parts of us.
